Bravery: "Show Yourself"
A funny story about how a strange monster terrified my children and how the kids bravely fought back!
Virtue: Courage
Wow of 12 stars. This is a story from our family. One day, when my kids were little, we were getting roller shutters installed on the outside of our windows getting roller shutters installed on the outside of our windows and the men came to install them pretty early in the morning and hadn't told the children that this was happening. Normally I warn them the night before, but I didn't realize the men were coming that early. So they arrived in the morning and I went outside while the children were still sleeping and I said to these men please wait until my children have woken up before you start drilling into their windows. And they said yeah, no worries, we've got other things we can do. I said thanks, that's brilliant, that's brilliant.
Speaker 1:Well, about 15 minutes later, I'm downstairs just doing little jobs, making sure everything's humming away and listening out for the kids, and I hear that the men have started installing the roller shutters. They didn't remember what we said, or they changed their mind, or one of them didn't realise where the children were sleeping or something. And they start on the front part of the house, which Gabriella is in, and the older one, cara I hear her and they are screaming. These children start screaming because they don't know what's happening and there's big shadows being cast by the men in the morning sun. Their shadows are coming in with their tools. The kids have no idea what's happening. And the next thing I hear cara, who is like seven, at the stage. She's so brave. She goes out to the other side of the house and where her little sister is and she yells show yourself, I'm not scared of you. What are you? Show yourself, oh my gosh, I am nearly weeing my pants. I think what aeing my pants. I think what a brave little soldier, what an amazing Disney princess. I run up the stairs to try and help them and I see these long shadows coming out on the floor and I see how scary it is and I just think, oh, my children are so brave, especially the other one.
Speaker 1:Show yourself. Isn't that the best thing for a kid to call out? Like when you really think about it from their perspective. And it's so funny because it wasn't scary. But if you were a little kid and you live in half like real world, half story land, that is the bravest thing you can say. And so on one hand I am laughing so hard and on the other hand, I have never been prouder. What a warrior. Show yourself, I'm not scared of you. So let that be a lesson to all of us. And there's something unknown coming into your life with long shadows and scary noise, and you're trying to protect somebody. Scary noise and you're trying to protect somebody, don't be scared. You step up and you say show yourself, I'm not scared of you. And then say your hail, mary, and you'll be fine. Funny stories from the powerhouse Crown of 12 stars.
